Golf at Cottonwood with the LaCopa Group

It was another hot sunny day in southern Texas, playing on the 9 hole, par three course, a Cottonwood Country club, which is open to the public. It is a well maintained course with holes that vary in length from 95 yards to 205 yards.

18 of the finest senior golfers took advantage of the nice weather to show off their golf skills , and to have fun with a group of like-minded golfers, who like to gamble on the roll of the dice.

This weeks format best ball, with the exception of off the tees.
On each hole, players hit their tee shots and then a player rolls the dice to see which ball would be used to finish the hole. from there it is a scramble.

Bragging rights for the week went to Bill Stewart, Dee Martintoni and Tony Guadagnolo.
The total reported on their scorecard was a one over parr 28.
Bill made the putt on the last hole to win for the White team. It has to be noted here that Bill, took putting lessons all week getting ready for this weeks game.

Second place went to the Red team with a two over 29, Keith Bess, Dorothy Kline , Bev Guadagnolo and Richard Lampi made up this team.

Third place Was taken by the Blues with a four over 31. Jerry Pape. Doug Mazur, Gerry Busch and Fred Kline.

The Green team had no luck with the dice and turned in a 35 for the day. Dianna Stewart headed the team of Teresa Williams, Bob Martintoni and Tracy Andrews.

Don and Donna Reisberg left to try their luck in the casinos on their way to florida and we wish them well, if the are playing dice.

Not many of the golfers had much luck rolling the dice today.

Jerry Pape took this picture of the group, so you will not find him in the picture.

The biggest turnout of the winter season for the laCopa league mixed golf,
turned out  20 golfers.

the format for the day was “roll the Dice”, with five groups of four taking to the links.
With this format , it was not often that the best drive was used.
It was reported that one team, had to take a penalty shot on # 5,
when they rolled the number of an unknown player who hit the ball into the water off the tee.

the Red team of Becky, Dianna, Jeff Dykstra ( his first week out) and Keith turned in one of three birdies recorded on  the day on # 8. their final score was a 29 , good for a tie for Second.

White team made up of Dee, Jo, Doug and Duane won the bragging rights for the week with a 27,
they score a birdie on # 3, a 115 yarder.

The Blues had one of those days, with tough luck with the dice and shot a 32, Bill, Howard, Bev and Bob made up this team.

The green team ( Gerry, Fred, Harry and Tony) started of with a bang,
getting a birdie on the first hole, playing the first four holes at even par, them they got to the fifth hole and their fortune changed. They took a  5, then repeating that on # 6 for the only 5’s turned in on the day.
They finished with 3 pars and a total score of 31.

The pinks turned in a 29 to tie for second, thanks to the Dorothy’s hot putter,
( she drained two putts from outside of 20 feet). they rolled a six four times , that is for the worst shot.
Dan, Don and Richard made up the rest of the team.

missing this week were Jim and Teresa Williams, Joyce Foy,
