Feb. 23rd Senior Mixed golf at Cottonwood Golf Course.

Golf on Friday feb. 23 started out with a slight breeze and the temperature at about 65 degrees and ended up at 78 degrees and the wind picking up during the round to about 30 mph, and that will test even the best golfers skills.

The wind did test the skills of the 16 golfers who turned up to play and the scores showed a higher than normal amount of strokes to get around the course.

thanks to Tracy for the two guests he brought to this weeks outing.

Paul Martin and Carl Aitken, from Southwestern Ontario,  got their first test of golfing on the narrow fairways and the Texas wind.

Carl adjusted to the wind and narrow fairways and turned in a round of 38, his first time out golfing in a few years. Paul had a bit more difficulty with the width of the fairways, as they were not quite wide enough  or long enough to contain his ball. His first round in five years was a 48.

For the team scores ( the lowest score on each hole), the Green team of Tony Gaudagnolo (35) , Dwayne Miller (39), Doug Mazur (36), and Howard Stewart (39), led the field with a team score of 31.

The Blue team of Dan Luensmann (36), Bev Gaudagnolo (37), Tracy Andrews (42) , Harry LaCore (41) had  a team score of 32 good for second place. ( Tracy only plays golf in texas , about 4 times a winter, he turned in his first par, on hole #8 which is a 200 yard par three and one of the hardest holes on the course).

Gerry Busch (35), Richard Lampi (37), Paul Martin (48), and Carl Aitken with his (38) brought the Red team into 3rd place with a team score of 33.

The White team of Becky Luensmann (43),  Bill Stewart (45), Dianna Stewart (43), and Jo LaCore (38), turned in a team score of 36.

Gerry Busch and Tony Gaudagnolo each shot 35s for the lowest rounds of the day.

Next weeks format will be ” roll the dice” which will add a bit of chance to the game.

Gerry Busch tames # 4 at cottonwood

Thanks to Sid and Joyce for the update.

On March 15 th , Gerry Busch made a hole in one on hole number 4 using a 5 wood. It was witnessed by her golf partner Bill Stewart. It was the second one this year, the fourth overall by our group and the second on hole #4 ( Gary, #9; Joyce, #4; Sid, #1). These people have/will have the names engraved on the plaques on the wall.

Gerry has also been cooking up some good scores. Over the past 2 or 3 weeks she has had a total score, for the 9 holes, of 28 on two occasions. Other than Fred’s 29, I can’t think of any other scores in the twenties this year.

Cottonwood Country Club and seniors from the LaCopa inn

Another nice warm sunny morning on the Cottonwood golf coarse, and the group from LaCopa took full advantage of the weather.
Don, George and Richard were out front with a treesome, Sid, Joyce and Art ( new to the group this year) were the second group off.
They were followed by Bill and Nancy with Howard and Dianne.
Bill and Jerry were also out on the coarse and looks like this group of hardy golfrs are using the coarse to the max.
Just how the other golfers scored is not known but Don shot a 38, george a 39 and Richard shot his best round of the season with a 31.
The only golfers missing were Kieth and Judy, Gary and Doug.
