Feb 20th 2015 Cottonwood

On a wild and windy day in South Texas, golfing at Cottonwood golf club proved to be a chalange.
23 of the finest golfers from the LaCopa, took on the wind, and tamed the course with some fine Team scores.
We were missing Bill and Nancy Ruhlow, Bill Stewart ( sore Shoulder) Jerry Miller and Howard Stewart.
Those who drew the red tee’s, Arthur Barnett, Gary Cook and Bob Martintoni led the way into the wind.
They struggled to a four on the first hole, then shot par golf after that.
Since there were three players in this group, they had to use 3 drives each for the nine holes.
They finished the round with a 28, good for second place.
The rest of the teams had 4 players and had to use each players shot on two holes, leaving one hole open.
Don Reisberg, Frank Simpson, Joyce Foy and Jerry Pape made up the white team. They parred the first four holes
then the evil twin must have showed up on hole # 5 as they shot a the only 5 of the day on that hole.
Another par then 4 bogey’s gave them a total of 32 for the round.
The Blue team has Gerry Busch to thank for the 29 that they recorded.
Gerry dropped puts from all over including one from about 18 feet for a birdie on #7.
Keith’s Bess’s chipping was solid and he got the ball close to the hole and let Gerry do the rest.
Richard Lampi and Tracy Andrews rounded out the team and added a shot here and there to help.
The yellow Team was the top group of the day, made up of, Harry DeCore, Fred Kline, Tim Andrews and Dorothy Kline.
From the look of the scorecard they did not run into any trouble, they had one bogey,
six pars and two Birdies for a great round of 26.
Ron Simpson, Sid Bina, Dianna Stewart and Dee Martintoni Drew the green tees, They shot a combined score of 29 .
On the day they had three bogey’s five pars and they birdied the longest and hardest hole on the course.
The pink’s made up of Jo LaCore, Judy Bess, Doug Mazor and George Coulson, had a tough day at the office.
The recorded six bogey’s and three pars on the day for a 33.
Next week we will be shorter on golfers as Don and Donna Reisberg will be leaving to check out some investments in Louisiana, then on to Florida to meet up with their kids and grand kids.
Frank Simpson will take a short trek by air and return to Battleford, Saskatchewan to see if winter is a myth or not.
