The best round of golf by any of the LaCopa group this year, belongs to Don Riesberg with his accurate drives and having his putting down to a fine art, making puts from near and far.
Congrats to Don on his Blazing round.
Sid Bina got the only birdie of the day on # 7 when he drove to within 16″ of the hole. Just missed the Ace.
He finished with a 34 along with George with a 34. Richard made everyone feel good when he shot a 37.
After the intence competition that the golfers had to endure yesterday, some of the golfers were tired to play today.
It did not seem to bother Sid, Joyce, George and Richard, They were on with the game at 10:am.
Sid chipped in for a Birdie on # 5 and came in with the days best score with a 31.
Richard was just behind with a 32 and George and Joyce shot 39’s.
Arthur was out on the coarse as well as the Ruhlow’s, Nancy and Bill.
Don had to stay home and do chores ( washing the car)
The weather was nice and sunny, good for shorts and short sleeved shirts.
The weather gods were smiling on the seniors golfers from the LaCopa League today as the sun was shining and the weather was just about warm.
14 golfers were ready to go at 10:00 a.m. and they picked tee out of a hat to see what teams they would be on for the day. there were two groups of 4 golfers and two groups of 3 golfers.
The golfers who picked the Red tees ( Ron Simpson, Doug Mazor and Sid Bina) were first off of # 1 and those who picked the White tees ( Judy Bess, Gerry Busch, Nancy Ruhlow and Don Riesberg) were second off #1.
Those with Blue tees (Joyce Foy, Gary Cook, Bill Stewart and Kieth Bess) started on # 9 and the Greens (George Coulson, Richard Lampi and Arther Barnett were the second group off of #9.
Each golfers scores were recorded individually and the best score on each hole was used for the team score and the bragging rights for the day. Today the bragging rights belonged to the Green team who came in with a even par score of 27. Thanks to George’s birdie on hole # 5, the only one scored today.

The golfers were happy with the weather and there were a lot of smiles about that.
Next week we are breaking out the dice and that is always fun.
the teams will be made up by picking tees again.
Each player will hit the ball off the tee , then the dice will be rolled and the number that comes up will be the shot used and each player will hit the ball from there. From there it will be best ball with each player hitting the ball.
If you are in a Foursome, each player will be assigned a number from 1 to 4, the #5 will be for the best Drive and the #6 will be the worst drive.
If you are playing in a threesome each player will be assiged two numbers and the same thing applies.
We will also be taking pictures of each team.
Golfing was a little bit better today as the weather warmed up to 53 degrees this afternoon.
Sid set the pace shooting a 31 on the Par three coarse at Cottonwood. He made a 20′ putt on the 95 yard 7th hole to register a Birdie, the only one recorded by the foursome of George, Don, Sid and Richard.
Richard came in with a 35, George a 38 and Don shot a 40.
The LaCopa group should be out in force on Friday Jan 16th as the forcast is for a little warm up has been forcast for the next few days.
The sun made an appearance today and the golfers hit the links with big smiles and great hopes after many days with cloulds and cold temps.
After starting off with jackets and sweaters on the golfers soon took them off as it seemed so warm , the temp was at 58 degrees but it seem realy warm after the long spell of cold days.
the forcast for tomorrow is for sun in the morning, and a high of 66, Golfers from the other parks may even come out to play, they have been missing for most of the cold weather.
Sid and Richard Turned in 35’s , Don with a 36 and George a 39.
Bill and Jerry we out in front and found the coarse surprisingly dry for all of the rain that has fallen the last couple of weeks.
Howard and Dianne were also seen chasing the little white ball around the coarse.
There are two groups of golfers from the LaCopa inn and they are the Hardy ones and the little less Hardy ones.
Nine of the Hardiest ones braved the 45 degree temps and the cold wet mist that was falling to make sure that the reputation of the LaCopa league was kept intact.
They are veiwed by the group of volenteers who operate the Cottonwood golf coarse as the crazy northerers .
The nine golfers drew tees to make up the teams for the day, each golfer kept thier own score for the round, and the best score on each hole was recorded for the Team bragging rights for the day.
Kieth, Sid and Richard drew the red tees and were first off the tee. The whites were George, Judy and Ron.
The trio of Joyce, Don and Doug were the last off the first tee and were blessed with the most of the rain on the last few holes.
The bad weather they had to suffer through showed on their team score as they came in with a 34.
The Red team came in with a 30, and the White team shot a 29 and won the bragging rights for the day.
George had the only birdie of the day and he got that on hole #3, congrats to George and to Ron who had the lowest round of the day at 31, his first golf since he left here last year.
Congrats to the less hardy golfers as they had enough brains to stay inside and out of the rain but they did not have any fun.
golfing in the cold weather sometimes has it rewards. Today with the temperature in the low 50s (11 c) Sid had his best round of the year, shooting a 31 at Cottonwood, his score could have been better but he hung a couple of puts and the edge of the hole.
Don was not far behind with a 33 and after driving the ball into the water on hole # 6 he chipped in from off the green to score a 4 on that hole, his chipper was on fire today.
Richard salvaged a 36 with a couple of pars on the last two holes after hitting the water on # 6.
Georges putter let him down as he come up short on many puts and ended the round with a 38.
#7 tee off at Little Falls Golf Coarse, this tee off is about 70 feet up on top of a hill on a 385 yard par 4.
It has a dog leg to the left on to a very small green, which is very flat and is hard to hit with your second shot.
Cottonwood golf club was wet and cool on saterday morning but that did not stop Sid, George and Richard of the Lacopa group. They braved the elements to Play 9 holes.
despite wet feet, George and Richard Shot 36s and Sid came in with a 39.
Richard lost the only ball of the day when he teed off on # 5 and hit it into the water.
The weather is going to warm up a bit for the next day or so.
Today the Lacopa golfers, were to start the winter season of golf on Friday, at the Cottonwood Golf Coarse, but the rain and cool weather for the last few days has dampened the spirit of the golfers and they do not want to come outside to play.
Most of the golfers from last year have returned or will be here in the next week or so.
This is a picture of the 18th hole at the golf coarse ( Falls Country Club) in International Falls Min. taken from outside of the Club House, it is a great finishing hole for the Pete Peterson seniors Tournament which is held every year. If you are every in the area you should play in this one.
